The player controls Alyosha Popovich, the youngest of three Russian Bogatyrs (warrior heroes). Alyosha with the help of his mentor Tikhon and a talking horse (which also serves as a comic relief), along with other characters from the film, must return the gold stolen by Tugarin's horde.
